Leicestershire County Council have offered guidance to its residents during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Leicester City Council is providing information on the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic via a regular newsletter available from leicester.gov.uk.

By visiting Leicester City Council’s website and subscribing to the ‘Your Leicester’ newsletter, you can find key information about the effect of COVID-19 on local services.

This includes information about:

- Customer Service Centre
- Support to keep businesses safe
- Central heating fitted free
- Heritage Open Days
- Windrush support and compensation
- Family learning at Lasals

Age UK's Leicester Shire & Rutland branch are providing several services to the local community.


The Leicester, Leicestershire & Rutland independent branch of Age UK are currently offering several support services for the elderly and vulnerable.

Age UK Leicester Shire & Rutland is a local independent arm of a national charity that aims to help older members of the community to live happier, active, fulfilled and socially-engaged lives. 

During the COVID-19 pandemic, they have launched a Coronavirus advice helpline, allowing those over 50 years-old with any concerns to get in touch during the current crisis.

The Coronavirus advice helpline is accessible to those in Leicester, Leicestershire & Rutland by calling 0116 299 2239, and is open during the following times:

- Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm
- Saturday and Sunday, 10am to 4pm

Due to the measures recently implemented by the Government, Age UK Leicester Shire & Rutland have been unable to re-open some shops located in the local area.

Age UK's Leicester Shire & Rutland branch have launched a helpline for those aged 50 or over who need assistance during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Demand has increased for emergency food parcels, and therefore they are welcoming any non-perishable food donations from the public. Please call 0116 299 2233 for information on where to drop any items you wish to donate off.

Age UK Leicester Shire & Rutland is no longer able to collect any items until they have sorted and distribute all of the donated goods to their shops. Please do not leave donations outside their shops as some are still closed.

The Age UK Leicester Shire & Rutland charity shops open now are as follows:

- Earl Shilton
- Ashby
- Shepshed
- Market Harborough (Bookshop only)

All of the above shops will be open Thursdays to Saturday from 9am to 3pm.
