Our Confidence Is High, Says Allen

Remi Allen, who captained the Foxes on Sunday, felt LCFC Women got exactly what their performance deserved after defeating Crystal Palace Women 4-1.

- City's captain on the day also reflected on a dominant performance from the Foxes

The 30-year-old netted a brace in the FA Women's Championship encounter, which, alongside goals from Natasha Flint and Lachante Paul, ensured another win for the Foxes.

Allen was pleased to be on the scoresheet again, netting the leveller with a close-range finish, before finding the net once more from Lia Cataldo's cross.

However, City's stand-in skipper was more happy to be taking the three points back to Leicester, feeling rewarded for an excellent team performance.

"It's pleasing obviously because we've got the three points," Allen said after the game. "We're disappointed to go a goal down like we did, especially having so many chances early on but I think we showed great character to respond.

Allen celebrates with her teammates after scoring the equaliser on the stroke of half-time.

"We had so many chances in the game, we're probably disappointed we didn't score more.

"It's nice [to score], it's good for confidence, goal after goal feels good and to be honest with you, it's important to score goals but it's more important to win the game.

"So I'm just pleased that the other girls got the goals as well and it definitely should have been more.

"I'm disappointed, I probably should have scored [another] as well, but two is nice, I would have loved the three, but three points is the vital thing so I'm happy with that."

LCFC Women were forced to come from behind at Hayes Lane, initially going a goal down in the fourth minute, before recording a second successive victory in style.

Momentum is high, confidence is high, but to go into that break with the six points is massive, so I think we're really pleased and we're raring to go again.

And while Allen credited the team's powers of recovery, she is also keen to start games on the front foot.

"It's been a pattern of our season, we've been conceding goals but we've always shown character," the midfielder added.

"We've had quite a few results where we've scored in the last minute in games so it definitely shows the resilience and character in the group.

"We need to cut the mistakes out so we don't get into that position, but it is pleasing that we can respond like that.

"It's a shame we're going into the international break because momentum is high, confidence is high, but to go into that break with the six points is massive, so I think we're really pleased and we're raring to go again."
