Over the past two days, key figures from both dressing rooms have sat down with the media to discuss a clash between two sides which, perhaps surprisingly, played out two 0-0 draws last term.
While City have won five matches on the bounce in all competitions, Nuno Espírito Santo's visitors are also on a four-game unbeaten run and are just two points behind the Foxes...
Brendan Rodgers on City’s form: “I’m sure at some points there will be little blips within it because if the players weren’t human, I’d say we’d win every game. But they are human, so what we’re getting from this period, with the results and also performances, from players that in the main have been on the outside, it really shows the clarity of the team and how they’re functioning. Everyone is clear on their roles and their purpose within that. Our purpose is always to defend well and score as many goals as we can. That will always be our intention going into every game.”
Wolves manager Nuno Espírito Santo said: “I look at Leicester with real admiration. Not only because of what they achieved as Premier League champions, but because of one of the hardest moments they had with the loss of their owner. How they united as a club was amazing. To be able to overcome such a sad moment and be strong again and compete like they are doing is a big compliment for them, so I have huge admiration for Leicester as a club. Leicester is a fantastic team and you can see in their previous games, even against Braga, how well they played.”
Academy graduate Luke Thomas, speaking to LCFC TV: “They’re quite an attacking team and they're good going forward and also very strong defensively. It's going to be a very tough game for us, but hopefully we can stay together with the confidence we've got in the team. I always believe that we can get the three points. Hopefully, we can go out there on Sunday and come away with a victory. I feel like we're with playing a lot of confidence at the minute and obviously, off the back of a 4-1 victory at Leeds, hopefully, we can go out there and continue playing with confidence and get the three points.”
Wolves winger Pedro Neto told wolves.co.uk: “We now have Leicester to come and it will be a difficult game; the way that they are playing and the way that they played last season shows the value of their team, but we go to win. Last season they were strong and this season I think they’ve come stronger, because it’s not the same team, they’ve developed their game, although they have the same manager. It will be very difficult, but like us, we are also developing our game, and we are very strong, so we go into the game to win.”
