About The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Leicester City sports turf and grounds team as a Sports Turf Apprentice, where you will learn all aspects of turf management in a high-profile sporting venue.

Based at Leicester City Football Club’s new world-class training ground, the successful candidate will be aiming to achieve the highest standards possible for all playing surfaces.

Key Tasks:

  • General football pitch maintenance including mowing of the pitches, line marking, repair and preparation of pitches and off field areas.
  • Assisting in the production and preparation of high quality playing surfaces.
  • Carrying out hands-on tasks such as strimming, hedge cutting, edging pathways, edging around irrigation pods and boxes.
  • Assisting at events such as Academy games at the training ground facility.

This is a unique opportunity for an individual with a strong interest in sports turf and horticulture, wishing to start their career in a professional sporting environment.

Skills required for success:

  • Ability to meet deadlines set by the manager and college tutor.
  • Enjoys working within a team with the ability to work independently when necessary.
  • Motivated to meet personal targets.

 

Essential Requirements:

  • Must enjoy working outdoors year round.
  • Good punctuality and excellent time keeping skills.
  • Commitment to learning and completing the qualification required for the apprenticeship.

 

About The Club

Contract Type – Fixed Term (24 months duration of the Apprenticeship Programme)
Hours Per Week
– 37.5 per week
