The Records City Have Broken In 2020/21 So Far

Under the management of Brendan Rodgers, a number of Leicester City’s Club records have tumbled – and the first two months of the 2020/21 season have been no different.
More on this story...

The Foxes head into the third international break of the season top of both the Premier League table and UEFA Europa League Group G, with a 100 per cent record in the latter competition.

Out of a possible 12 matches, City have recorded nine victories, while their latest run of games has seen them register six-straight wins in all competitions.

Their form under Rodgers, who joined the Football Club in February 2019, has in turn set new records, both as a team and individually.

When the final whistle blew at King Power Stadium on Sunday afternoon, the Foxes were able to celebrate win no.6 in the Premier League this term.

Leicester moved onto 18 points from eight games, and in turn, that saw them surpass the record they set at the start of the 2000/01, when after seven games they had 15 points.

While that side, managed by Peter Taylor, drew their eighth game to move top of the Premier League, Rodgers men secured a win to set a new Club-record start to a top-flight campaign.

Vardy's Hat-Trick Headlines Stunning Man City Triumph

Enjoy all the goals from the Foxes' brilliant 5-2 Premier League victory away at Manchester City early in the 2020/21 season.

City’s incredible form on the road this term has resulted in them winning all five fixtures they have contested for the first time in their history, beating West Bromwich Albion, Manchester City, Arsenal and Leeds United in the Premier League and AEK Athens in the UEFA Europa League.

The four successive away victories in the top flight equals the Club’s best-ever away run in the division, which was set during the 2015/16 Premier League-winning season, and then matched in 2019/20 campaign.

Meanwhile, City’s longest run of away wins in any domestic division came in 2013/14, when five successive triumphs set them on the road to the Championship title.

Vardy Wins It For City At Arsenal

Jamie Vardy's winner which sealed the Foxes' first win at Arsenal since 1973 in the 2020/21 seasons.

Not since 1973, when Alan Birchenall – now Club Ambassador – played in midfield and Len Glover and Mike Stringfellow scored the goals at Highbury, had City beaten Arsenal away from home until last month’s triumph at the Emirates Stadium.

Nearly a half a century later, on 25 October, 2020 – exactly a year to the day that City registered a record-breaking 9-0 win at Southampton – Jamie Vardy came off the bench to score the winning goal at Emirates Stadium.

Set up by Turkey international winger Cengiz Ünder, Vardy’s well-executed header 10 minutes from time moved the Foxes up to fourth in the division, but more importantly banished their Arsenal away hoodoo.

Biggest-ever win at Elland Road

All the goals from the Foxes' superb victory away at Elland Road.

The first of three matches in just seven days saw City head to Elland Road to take on Leeds United on a chilly Monday night in Yorkshire.

They got off to the perfect start, too, as Harvey Barnes and Youri Tielemans scored inside 21 minutes, before Stuart Dallas pulled a goal back for the hosts at the start of the second period.

However, City rallied and Jamie Vardy’s close-range finish and a Tielemans penalty stretched their advantage to 4-1 – their largest-ever win at the 123-year-old Elland Road.

Leicester Secure Resounding Braga Triumph

Enjoy all four goals scored by the Foxes in their Europa League victory over SC Braga on Thursday evening.

Away from City’s domestic success, they have also carried their commanding form into the UEFA Europa League, where they sit top of Group G with three wins from as many outings.

It was their most recent match that yielded a record-breaking result, though, as Leicester surged to a 4-0 win over SC Braga at King Power Stadium.

Having matched their biggest-ever win in Europe against Zorya Luhansk two weeks earlier, they set a new record against the Portuguese outfit thanks to Kelechi Iheanacho’s double and efforts from Dennis Praet and James Maddison.

Jamie Vardy vs. Wolverhampton Wanderers

Jamie Vardy's penalty in the first half against Wolves was enough to secure all three points for the Foxes at King Power Stadium.

While he could have had two goals from the spot against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday, his solitary penalty was enough for Jamie Vardy to set a new record of his own.

The striker’s successful first-half spot-kick against Nuno Espírito Santo’s men means he has now scored against every current Premier League side.

Furthermore, his eighth league goal of 2020/21 saw him take his overall record to 111 Premier League goals in 218 games, while no player has scored more top-flight penalties (23) since the start of the 2014/15 season than City's No.9.
