- Leicester City were not productive enough in front of goal against Everton, according to manager Brendan Rodgers
- The hosts were beaten 2-0 by the Toffees in the Premier League on Wednesday
- Richarlison and Mason Holgate found the net for Carlo Ancelotti’s side at King Power Stadium
The Foxes were beaten for the first time in four outings after goals from Richarlison and Mason Holgate sealed a 2-0 success for the visitors.
Meanwhile, Youri Tielemans also went close with a low drive inside the opening two minutes, and City had a penalty overruled after a VAR check.
“[We’re] frustrated,” Rodgers told LCFC TV. “We had enough of the ball, got into really good areas throughout the evening but just lacked that bit of quality in our play tonight to create any clear chances.
“Obviously, Jamie [Vardy] had a good opportunity from a header just after they scored. It looked like we had a penalty, which felt a penalty for everyone, and I think you see Carlo's (Carlo Ancelotti's) reaction, he thinks the player's (André Gomes) made a mistake, challenging him from behind.
“That was frustrating, but ultimately, the two goals we gave away were poor goals. When you do that against a team that will sit deep, then that makes it difficult.”
Rodgers was disappointed with the manner in which City conceded, but knows now is the time for his players to focus and clear their minds ahead Sunday’s trip to Tottenham Hotspur.
He continued: “I don't think we had the luck this evening, that's for sure, but sometimes that's the way it goes.
I think across the league every team is searching for that consistency, but what's important is you can't let it derail you.Brendan Rodgers LCFC TV
“Yes, it's one of those where you drive home, and you can't understand how you've lost the game.
“There's a lot of work that's gone in from the players and listen, our players tonight, their effort and everything they give to the game was very, very good.
“It was just two disappointing goals from our perspective. I think across the league every team is searching for that consistency, but what's important is you can't let it derail you. You’ve got to press the reset button again.”
