Rodgers' Fitness Update: Vardy, Ndidi, Castagne, Fofana & Morgan
- Leicester City face Fulham at Craven Cottage in the Premier League on Wednesday (6pm GMT kick-off)
- Striker Jamie Vardy is unlikely to be available for selection in west London, but is progressing well
- Wilfred Ndidi is nearing a return after sustaining a hamstring complaint at Everton
- Timothy Castagne and Wesley Fofana also have hamstring issues which will be monitored
- Club captain Wes Morgan has been recovering from a back issue over recent weeks
Vardy underwent minor hernia surgery over recent weeks and has been absent for fixtures against Brentford, Everton and Leeds United for the fourth-placed Foxes.
The Club's all-time top Premier League goalscorer is 'not too far away' from a return to action, Rodgers said on Monday, while Wilfred Ndidi is also progressing well after a hamstring complaint.
"We’re hopeful that Jamie, towards the weekend, won’t be too far away, which will be great news for us," the City manager told the media at LCFC Training Ground. "That’s what we anticipate with him.
"Wilf won’t be too much longer after that. It’s just the nature of this season. If you look at how compact the games are and the intensity of them, it’s very, very difficult for players.
"I think the players have been amazing in terms of the level of performance they’re giving considering the intensity of the games and how close they are together. It’s just something you have to cope with."
Rodgers also provided an update on Timothy Castagne after the Belgium international was withdrawn against Leeds with a hamstring complaint, while also detailing an issue for Wesley Fofana.
"We picked up a few injuries yesterday (Sunday)," the Northern Irishman added. "Tim felt a little bit in the warm-up and tried to give it a go in the game, but he just wasn’t quite right.
"We’ll wait and see what the scan says, but we think he’ll be out for a small period of time. Wesley Fofana, we’ll assess.
"He came off for a tactical reason, but he felt something in his hamstring as well, so we’ll just see where that’s at over the next 24 hours."
Club captain Wes Morgan, on the other hand, has been afforded a period of recuperation time after a back issue, as Rodgers also explained in the King Power Centre in Seagrave.
"He’s had ongoing issues with his back," he said. "We decided a couple of weeks ago, or 10 days ago, to take him out of training and availability for games to let that settle down.
"He’s working well with the medical team and that’s the reason why he hasn’t been involved for the last couple of weeks."
