A tense affair in Quorn was settled by Cain's 72nd-minute strike after Flint hurried Reds goalkeeper Rachel Laws into a rare error which led to a simple finish for City's No.21.

It means the newly-crowned FA Women's Championship champions will tackle Manchester United Women in the fifth round in May and Cain was delighted to keep Leicester's momentum going with their third win of the season over Liverpool in all competitions.

"It was really nice to get the win as we knew it was going to be a really tough game," the former Everton striker told LCFC TV. "It was very end to end. It was a very tiring game but yes, I'm buzzing to get the win. Our game plan from the start was to press them really aggressively.

We're The Team Everyone Wants To Beat, Says Cain

Goalscorer Hannah Cain gives her reaction to LCFC Women's FA Cup win over Liverpool and her thoughts on the final part of the season for the Foxes.

"It was our main thing that we tried to do and Tash did really well. It was mine and Tash's goal. She earned it, so fair play to her.

"We're always ready for (a battle). We knew that they would want to beat the league champions. So we've got that on our head now, we're a target.

"Our last few games this season, everyone's going to want to beat us and obviously it's an FA Cup game, the next round's Manchester United, which is a great place for us to showcase ourselves for next season. So yes, we're just really happy with the win today and the performance."

Cain had to wait for her chance in 2020/21 as she recovered from a lengthy injury, but now she's back in the side, the 22-year-old has been a key figure in Leicester's promotion-winning campaign.

It's been a whirlwind of a season but yes, absolutely buzzing. The FA Cup is a place for us to showcase ourselves for next season and see where we are at against the top teams in the country.

"That's kind of in the back of my mind now," she added. "At the start, when I was making my comeback, it was obviously there and I was thinking: 'Okay, I just need to get more minutes'. I don't really think about that anymore.

"I've kind of put it to the back of my mind. It's a bit of a reality check. The last time we played Liverpool, it was my first 60 minutes and then, this time, obviously is completely different, playing nearly 90 minutes, scoring the winning goal and we're through to the FA Cup Fifth Round.

"It's been a whirlwind of a season but yes, absolutely buzzing. The FA Cup is a place for us to showcase ourselves for next season and see where we are at against the top teams in the country."
