Foxes Stars Set To Meet As European Championship Looms

A host of Leicester City players could feature as the UEFA European Championship takes place across the continent over the coming month.
More on this story...

- Leicester City will once again have a healthy representation at a major international tournament
- Çağlar Söyüncü may feature alongside 2020/21 loanee Cengiz Ünder in the opener for Turkey
- Goalkeepers Kasper Schmeichel (Denmark) and Danny Ward (Wales) have also been selected
- Belgium trio Youri Tielemans, Timothy Castagne and Dennis Praet could feature

On Friday evening, the festival of European football gets underway with Çağlar Söyüncü and 2020/21 loanee Cengiz Ünder in line to feature for Turkey in the showpiece curtain-raiser against one-time winners Italy at Stadio Olimpico in Rome (8pm kick-off).

The Crescent-Stars, semi-finalists in 2008, also face Wales and Switzerland in Group A hoping to advance beyond the initial stages for the third time. This summer's tournament, meanwhile, has been rescheduled from last year after being postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

That clash between Turkey and Wales could also see goalkeeper Danny Ward in action for his country. The Dragons are in Group A as well and begin their EURO journey with a fixture against Switzerland at Baku Olympic Stadium in Azerbaijan on Saturday (2pm kick-off).

Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans is once again likely to be a prominent player for Belgium this summer.

Leicester No.1 Kasper Schmeichel, on the other hand, is in line to add to his tally of 65 caps for Denmark in Group B - where Kasper Hjulmand's side will meet Finland, Belgium and Russia. Their opener, against the Finns, falls on Saturday too (5pm kick-off), before an intriguing Belgium encounter.

That could see Schmeichel line up against up to three club colleagues as Youri Tielemans, Timothy Castagne and Dennis Praet have all been selected by the Red Devils, who remain top of the FIFA World Rankings. That meeting is scheduled for next Thursday at Parken in Copenhagen (5pm kick-off).

Belgium get underway by tackling Russia in Saint Petersburg on Saturday (8pm kick-off). As always, you can monitor the progress of the Club's international representatives with updates on LCFC.com throughout the tournament, alongside other international reports from around the world.
