The FA Cup holders will begin the new Premier League campaign against Wolverhampton Wanderers at King Power Stadium on Saturday 14 August – Leicester's eighth consecutive year in the top flight.

Ahead of his third full season on Filbert Way, Northern Irish manager Rodgers, the first man since compatriot Martin O'Neill to lift a domestic cup competition with the Foxes, reacted to the confirmation of the Club's fixture schedule on Wednesday.

“The release of the new Premier League season’s fixtures is always an exciting day and one that will increase the sense of anticipation ahead of that opening weekend for both players and supporters alike,” the 48-year-old told LCFC.com.

“We face Wolves at home in our first game, which will be a great test for us against an excellent team, but I hope that in front of our own supporters at King Power Stadium, we’re able to get off to a positive start to the campaign and give ourselves a good platform to build on.”

Throughout Rodgers' tenure in the East Midlands, the Foxes have made progress with each passing season and the former Liverpool and Celtic manager is keen to continue that trend this time around. Leicester will also compete in the UEFA Europa League for the second time in 2021/22.

“My first two seasons at this Football Club have been really enjoyable and the players have shown great attitude and commitment,” Rodgers added.

An emotional recap of Leicester City's 2020/21 campaign, including some incredible wins and an FA Cup Final triumph.

“We’ve made progress in each year and winning the FA Cup for the first time last month has given us the confidence and the hunger to go on and achieve even more, so I’m excited to see what we can do in the new season.

“After a summer break, we’ll soon be looking forward to the challenge of what will be another competitive Premier League campaign, as well as another season of European football – both things that our supporters will undoubtedly play a key role in.

“We missed our fans so much over the last season, but the backing we received from them from home was phenomenal. We felt they were behind us throughout the entire campaign, and we can’t wait to be able to welcome them back to King Power Stadium to continue our journey together.”
