Tielemans Excited For 'Amazing' Wembley Occasion
- Youri Tielemans previews Leicester City's FA Community Shield clash with Manchester City
- The Foxes, holders of the Emirates FA Cup, face the Premier League champions at Wembley Stadium
- Tielemans hopes to replicate the scenes of celebrations which followed his fine winner back in May
- The Belgium international also reflects on a night of mixed emotions against Villarreal on Wednesday
The Belgium midfielder was City's hero back in May as his sweetly-struck drive from range was ultimately the difference in the final of the Emirates FA Cup - securing the Club's first success in the prestigious competition in 137 years.
As FA Cup holders, Leicester will face Premier League champions Manchester City in the season's curtain-raiser at the national stadium in a 5:15pm BST kick-off. Tielemans, who starred for the Foxes in a 3-2 win over Villarreal at King Power Stadium this week, is looking forward to the occasion.
"We’re really excited," City's No.8 told LCFC TV in Seagrave this week. "Obviously, it’s a chance to get another trophy for the Club, so it’s going to be, I hope, an interesting game and to be back in Wembley with fans will be amazing.
I’m sure that once we get to the stadium, inside the changing room, and then onto the pitch, it will be a nice feeling again. Hopefully we can win the game to make it even better.

"It was really nice to get them back in on Wednesday and hopefully, on Saturday, we can have a good result and then celebrate with the fans like we did in May with the FA Cup. There’s going to be even more fans, so it’s going to be amazing."
On whether memories of that magical day in May will come flooding back this weekend, the former AS Monaco midfielder added: "Maybe! I’m not sure until we get there. We’ll see, but I’m sure that once we get to the stadium, inside the changing room, and then onto the pitch, it will be a nice feeling again.
"Hopefully we can win the game to make it even better. Man City’s always a good team to play against. It’s going to be very hard, so it’s going to be a good test."
Goals: Leicester City 3 Villarreal 2
The goals from the Foxes' 3-2 pre-season victory over Spanish side Villarreal on Filbert Way.
Tielemans played the opening 45 minutes against Villarreal on Filbert Way earlier this week and, although pleased with the nature of the Foxes' performance, the 24-year-old admits the injury sustained by Wesley Fofana was a big blow for the whole squad.
Çağlar Söyüncü, Harvey Barnes and Ayoze Pérez got the goals in front of the largest home crowd in Leicester since March 2020.
"We played in a good way for the first 60 minutes and then it was such a sad feeling, emotionally, when [Fofana] got that injury," he explained.
"The sadness took over and, after that, the manager made some changes as well to get everyone a bit of game time and fresh legs, so hopefully we can take confidence from the performance, but also try and do it for Wesley as well."
