Recruited in the summer of 2021 following her departure from United, Sigsworth made her Foxes bow against Aston Villa last Saturday and is now preparing to face ex-team-mates on what could be her home debut for the Foxes.

The 26-year-old will have the landmark of a first competitive goal for the Club in her sights when the Red Devils arrive in Leicester and is also looking forward to being backed by home supporters during a historic maiden WSL match at King Power Stadium.

“I can’t wait, I really can’t.” the Doncaster-born attacker told CITY Matchday Magazine. “Last weekend, even though we were away, it was just nice to be able to play a game in front of fans. It was a great atmosphere and we could hear our fans.

Sigsworth started the Foxes' WSL opener against Aston Villa, playing 90 minutes at Banks's Stadium.

“I’m so excited to play a home game and be able to see, hear and even meet all the fans. Last season was so weird and it’s not nice when there’s no fans so, honestly, I can’t wait.”

The digital-only issue of CITY Matchday Magazine – LCFC Women Edition features the full interview with Sigsworth, and much more besides, including notes from manager Jonathan Morgan.

There’s also an update on how City’s WSL Academy Team and Reserve Team have begun their respective 2021/22 campaigns, as well as a closer look at Sunday’s opposition - Marc Skinner’s Manchester United.

Although a new head coach is in post at United, Sigsworth is set to come up against plenty of familiar faces from her spell with the Manchester club, should she take to the pitch this weekend.

Last season, LCFC Women beat Manchester United in the cup, so I have every faith and have every confidence in my team’s ability to get a good result.

Although heading into the encounter as underdogs, the forward believes City can take confidence from beating the Red Devils in the Vitality Women’s FA Cup at the end of last season, which turned out to be her final appearance in a United shirt.

"Obviously, they’re a good team and they have good players," she added. “They will be organised, they’ll have a game plan and it will be a difficult game.

“We have to expect a tough game, but the beauty of football is being able to play against talented teams. I enjoy it and, as players, we should thrive on games like this."
