The Foxes welcome Napoli to Filbert Way for their group stage opener on the European stage after qualifying for the competition by finishing fifth in the Premier League and lifting the Emirates FA Cup last season. The Group C clash kicks off at 8pm on Thursday evening in the East Midlands.

Speaking from inside the King Power Centre at LCFC Training Ground on Wednesday, Rodgers provided an update on the condition of his Leicester squad. Defenders Wesley Fofana (fibula) and James Justin (ACL) are the only long-term absentees and there are no fresh concerns.

"We’re looking very good on the injury front," the manager explained. "Most of the guys, apart from Wesley and James, are available or there to be in the squad."

It’s such an important period because of the proximity of games. You're going to need your players. Whichever team I put out, I look to get a positive result.

The Northern Irishman says he will have full confidence in whatever squad he names for the clash and throughout the upcoming group stage campaign in Europe. New rules state the team who finish top of their pool will progress to the Round of 16, but for Rodgers that is always the ambition anyway.

"My idea last year was to finish top of the group and we were able to do that," he added. "Whichever team we play, I’ll always feel confident. Now with players coming back to fitness, we brought in some players to help with depth and hopefully we can see that between now and Christmas.

"It’s such an important period because of the proximity of games. You're going to need your players. Whichever team I put out, I look to get a positive result. We’ve been unfortunate in the last couple of seasons (with injuries), but hopefully, touch wood, we get the fitness and that little bit of luck you need."
