The Foxes are due in the capital to tackle Gary Rowett's Lions in the third round of the Carabao Cup but the Emirates FA Cup holders go into the tie on the back of a frustrating defeat by Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League over the weekend.

Portugal full-back Ricardo, who has impressed during the early weeks of the 2021/22 campaign, is aware of the challenge visiting Millwall will pose for the Foxes, but called on his team-mates to focus on the task. It sees City enter a third competition, alongside the league and UEFA Europa League.

"I heard it’s a good atmosphere there, but we have to concentrate on our game, do what we do, show our quality and impose our game," he told LCFC TV. "Fortunately, we had [the experience of playing several games in close proximity] last year, so we are used to that.

If you go in with [the wrong] mentality, it can difficult for us because we have more to lose than them. We have to go in with a good mentality and do our best.

"We know when you don’t win, the good thing is you play again in three days. You have another game, an opportunity to do better, to change things and change the momentum. That’s what we will do on Wednesday. It depends on the mentality you go into the game with.

"If you go in with [the wrong] mentality, it can difficult for us because we have more to lose than them. We have to go in with a good mentality and do our best."

Ricardo was disappointed to leave Brighton with no points on Sunday but says Leicester must use that experience as a motivating factor when they arrive at Millwall in midweek.

Asked if there are positives to take, he added: "We know we did good things in the second half but, of course, we are disappointed and the team was sad at the end. Now we need to bring our desire to the next game and do better and win.

"It was a hard game. We scored three goals, two disallowed. You have to take the good things from it and learn from our mistakes and do better next time."
