Lookman Striving For More After First Foxes Goal

Ademola Lookman believes link-up play with his new team-mates will continue to improve as he gains more minutes under his belt in a Leicester City shirt.

The winger starred in the 2-0 Carabao Cup Third Round win over Millwall at The Den on Wednesday evening, netting a maiden goal on his full debut for the Foxes, following three consecutive substitute appearances.

Able to coolly apply a finishing touch just five minutes into the second half, his strike was followed late on by another from Kelechi Iheanacho to round off a clinical performance from the visitors.

“I’m delighted to get my first Leicester goal,” the 23-year-old told LCFC TV following full-time in the capital. “I’m just happy to get it in front of the fans as well, so hopefully it’s the first of many.

“I knew Kelechi was going to shoot and I just followed it in really and cushioned it into the net. It’s always nice to score, I’m glad.

“Kelechi is a great finisher as we know and off the crossbar and in, it doesn’t come much sweeter than that!”

Attention has swiftly turned back to Premier League matters, however, as City welcome Burnley to King Power Stadium on Saturday afternoon (3pm kick-off).

Although Leicester came out on the right side of a 4-2 scoreline against their east Lancashire opponents in last season’s corresponding fixture, Lookman knows they will have to be at their best in all departments to secure their first home win since the opening day of the top-flight campaign.

Understanding my team-mates was going to take some time and obviously for them to understand me also with my movements, so as time goes on, I think we’ll gel better together.

He commented: “We’re looking forward to the weekend now and the Burnley game, just to recover and get right and hopefully I can feature in the game on Saturday and hopefully just help the team.

"I’ll be ready. It’s my job to be ready, to be available for all the games and that’s what I look to do. I just look forward to every single game.

“They’re not just [physical], they play football as well so it’s going to be another battle, another hard match for us and we need to be ready and hopefully get the result.

“Every game is important. I think if we battle and show our quality as we did [against Millwall], I think we’ll do the job.”

Lookman's Millwall Reflections & Burnley Preview

Ademola Lookman spoke to LCFC TV after his first Leicester City goal helped the Foxes to overcome Millwall in the Carabao Cup Third Round, and also discussed Saturday's Premier League clash with Burnley.

Following his midweek performance, meanwhile, Lookman is confident that his development will prosper further as he grows more accustomed to the style of play and philosophy that manager Brendan Rodgers has instilled within the Club.

The RB Leipzig loanee added: “Understanding my team-mates was going to take some time and obviously for them to understand me also with my movements, so as time goes on, I think we’ll gel better together.

“I’m loving it, I’m loving every single minute. I'm trying to learn and just be a sponge and get as much information as I can.”
