Launde Primary School Launches Move it Boom!

Launde Primary School in Oadby have helped to launch the beginning of the 2021 Move it Boom competition.
Pupils from the Premier League Primary Stars partner school were joined by Leicester City in the Community coaches, alongside Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust, in a busy afternoon of physical activity.
Spending the afternoon outside on the Launde Primary School field, Year 3 pupils took part in a carousel of activities, ranging from light-hearted bootcamp-style exercises, throwing and catching, as well as invasion games.
Foxes legend Steve Walsh and Club mascot Filbert Fox were also on hand to take part in the fun, bringing everybody together to spread the importance of taking part in physical exercise.
Kathryn Priddey, Head of School at Launde Primary, discussed the excitement around the school for the launch event.
“Working closely with Leicester City in the Community really helps inspire the children to get moving, and their parents to get involved too,” she explained. “There has been a hive of excitement around the school leading up to it, and the children are really excited and involved.
“It’s been absolutely brilliant to get them moving again.”
Move it Boom is a competition created by Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust, made for primary school children across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
The competition involves pupils logging their physical activities on the Move it Boom website – the more activities they take part in, the more points they can earn for their school.
Activities that pupils can get involved with include walking to school, dancing at home and playing ball games in the park.
Talking at the launch event, Oliver Kyle, Digital Engagement Lead for Healthy Together at Leicestershire Partnerships NHS Trust, explained the importance of the partnership with Leicester City in the Community.
“The partnership is massive – it’s helped us get out to even more primary schools across Leicester,” he began. “The prizes that Leicester City in the Community have put forward is a massive incentive for those schools to take part.
“It will really reward the children at the end of the competition.”
Move it Boom will run throughout autumn, with the competition coming to an end in December. Going forward, winning schools will be announced in January next year, with prizes including tickets to see LCFC Women at King Power Stadium, and ‘Leicester City Day’ which features a day of fun activities lead by Leicester City in the Community coaches.
