- Kasper Schmeichel and Jannik Vestergaard help Denmark beat Austria 1-0
- The Danes have qualified for the finals of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar
- Daniel Amartey helped Ghana to a 1-0 victory over Zimbabwe in World Cup qualifying
- Papy Mendy was a late substitute in Senegal’s 3-1 win against Namibia
The Danes have won all eight of their matches and have not conceded a single goal en route to their qualification for the Qatar finals, scoring 27 times in the process.
On Tuesday, it was Joakim Maehle’s strike on 53 minutes that secured the three points, with Schmeichel and Vestergaard completing 90 minutes to help Denmark to their eighth clean sheet in as many games.
Earlier in the day, Daniel Amartey played from start to finish in Ghana’s 1-0 win away to Zimbabwe in Harare as part of their 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification campaign.
Thomas Partey’s strike on 31 minutes proved to be enough for the Black Stars, who are now second in Group G of the African qualification pool.
They have nine points from four games, and next face Ethiopia in the November international break as they look to close in on leaders South Africa.
In the same competition, Papy Mendy came off the bench late on in Senegal’s 3-1 success over Namibia at Orlando Stadium in Soweto, South Africa, as his nation became one of the first teams to progress through to the play-offs.
The Leicester City midfielder entered the action in place of Famara Diedhiou, whose hat-trick helped the Lions of Teranga continue their perfect start in Group H.
Senegal are top of their pool, and sit eight points clear of second-placed Namibia after four matches, next facing Togo in November.
