Leicester City in the Community Raises Funds For The Bodie Hodges Foundation

- Leicester City in the Community staff collectively raised £3,173.37 during their Give Back Day
- Staff worked in teams to find creative ways to fundraise
- The Bodie Hodges Foundation is a charity that supports families bereaved of a child
- The money will go towards creating 'Bodie’s Treasured Memory Bags’ for grieving siblings

As part of their Give Back Day, staff were split into teams of six and took part in 'The £60 Challenge'. They were given £60 and had to work together to think of creative ways to raise money within six hours.

Using their entrepreneurial skills, Leicester City in the Community team members created raffles with a range of prizes, set up a penalty shoot-out at Abbey Park, created a wet sponge throwing game and even ran a backwards 5km.

Their work was documented on Leicester City in the Community social media channels, as well as making an appearance on BBC Radio Leicester during the day.

The Bodie Hodges Foundation is a Leicestershire-based charity that supports families that are bereaved of a child. The money raised by Leicester City’s charitable arm will go towards funding 53 of 'Bodie’s Treasured Memory Bags', which are filled with grief resources to help children understand their feelings and grieve their brother or sister.

Each bag costs £60 to make, and are given to bereaved siblings free of charge. There are three different bags; for children aged three to 10, for children aged 11 to 16, and for ages three to 25 for children with Special Educational Needs and disabilities (SEND).

Kellie Charge, Fundraising and Events Manager for The Bodie Hodges Foundation, talked about how much the money raised means to the charity.

“Last year we sent out 318 treasured memory bags in total, so a contribution of 53 bags from Leicester City in the Community will make a tremendous difference,” she commented.

“Your fundraising on that day was absolutely phenomenal – we were quite floored when we saw the end result. A massive thanks to everybody in the Leicester City in the Community team that took part. We really are tremendously grateful to have received your support.”
