Eppiah’s Road To Recovery

The Foxes face Tottenham Hotspur Under-23s in Monday night’s Premier League 2 Division 1 encounter at LCFC Training Ground, which will be available to watch live and for free on LCFC TV from 6:45pm.
Coached by Ben Petty, City’s youngsters have enjoyed a solid start to the 2021/22 campaign, winning three and drawing four of the 10 league matches to date and are currently unbeaten in their last three. Extending that run to four games is now the target.
Mainly watching on from the sidelines, Eppiah, who most recently started in the 1-1 draw with Chelsea, sees positive signs from the Development Squad as they aim to climb the standings.
“I feel like they’ve done well, especially in the last few games they’ve had,” the 23-year-old told the Club's in-house TV channel. “They’ve been having some good results. Obviously for myself, I’ve only been involved twice with them. Against Man City I got 30 minutes and Chelsea I got 45 minutes.

“When I was with them and in training with them, I think they are a good bunch of talented lads and I reckon they will go far this season if they carry on the way they are.
“I’ve been in and around training sessions with them and I’ve seen the way they are around the building. They’re up for it, they’re confident now because of the results they have been getting, and I’m confident in them.
“We’re at home so they’ve got us supporting, they’ve got the fans behind them, so I feel like they’ll get a good result. The lads are all positive.
“I know the captain, Vontae [Daley-Campbell] well and coming from him, it will always start from him and if he’s excited and he’s confident going into the game, that will give the other lads the confidence they need as well. When I’ve been in the changing room with him, he looks up for it and he’s ready.”
Recording a tally of six goals for City’s Under-23s during the shortened 2019/20 campaign, the Belgium-born striker signed a new three-year contract in September 2020 before spending last term on loan with OHL Leuven in the Jupiler Pro League.
His loan spell, which included one league goal in 11 appearances, was disrupted by injury and led to the forward missing the start of this season as he returned to the Club. Eppiah has played 75 minutes of PL2 football so far this term as he works his way back to full fitness.
He continued: “When you go out on loan, your hopes are up and you feel like you are injured free and then just before the end of the loan, another injury. It’s something that unfortunately happens. It’s in the game with every single player.
“I can’t really dwell on it; I just have to focus and hope that the physio will help get me back. I’ve had my fair share of injuries. When I had my first major injury, I was 17.
“I feel like because I had it at a young age, I know how to deal with it growing up. Obviously, it’s tough, but with family, friends and support, you can get through it.”
With City back on home soil in Seagrave on Monday, Eppiah believes they have every chance of securing another positive result against Spurs.
“It’s fantastic facilities,” the former Belgium Under-21 international added. “Coming from Belvoir Drive to this is a massive change. It’s all good being back, especially outside on the pitch.
“At home, in front of all the supporters, I feel like it’s fantastic and a good opportunity for the younger lads. I’ve grown up at Belvoir Drive, but the younger lads coming up and playing in this amazing facility, it’s exciting for them.”
