- LCFC Women suffered a 1-0 reverse at the hands of Everton on Sunday
- Demi Lambourne made her WSL debut in the defeat at Pirelli Stadium
- The goalkeeper produced an impressive performance between the sticks
- She believes it is only a matter of time before the Foxes pick up a first win
There was nothing between the sides until Simone Magill managed to take the ball around the Foxes goalkeeper with nine minutes to play and seal a 1-0 victory for the travelling Toffees in Burton.
Making several key saves during the Barclays FA Women’s Super League encounter – her maiden appearance in the top-flight – Lambourne says she is ready to seize her opportunity following Kirstie Levell’s knee injury, which has unfortunately ruled the in-form shot-stopper out for up to 14 weeks.
Lambourne told LCFC TV: “I think firstly I’m gutted for Kirstie [Levell], she’s been doing really well. She’s pushed me, hopefully I’ve pushed her and now that opportunity has come, hopefully I can grab it with two hands.
We’re disappointed with the results, I don’t think we’ve deserved them, but the group is together and each week we come out and try to go out and get those points. It’s definitely coming.Demi Lambourne LCFC TV
“I’ve just kept working hard in training and obviously got my opportunity.”
The former Oxford United ‘keeper felt that, although City matched the visitors, they were unable to finish any of their clear-cut chances, while Everton produced a clinical edge in the latter stages of the game, in similar fashion to Brighton the previous week.
Another late goal leaves Leicester at the foot of the league table after matchday eight, but after once again coming close to securing their first top-flight point, the 25-year-old is confident that the team can pick themselves up and move forward, due to the positive mood within the camp.
Lambourne Proud To Make WSL Debut
LCFC Women goalkeeper Demi Lambourne spoke to LCFC TV after making her first start of the league campaign against Everton.
“I don’t think there was a massive difference between us at all,” she reflected. “I think we had opportunities, they had opportunities, and obviously they took that chance and we had a couple that maybe we could have put into the back of the net.
“We’re gutted, but we’re very positive with it as well. The performances are there, we keep showing that, obviously today and last week. We know that the points are coming, and we’ve just got to keep working hard at that.
