We Showed Quality In Moments, Says Lookman

The Foxes, hit by a string of defensive injuries ahead of the clash, found themselves 4-0 down against the champions at half-time following open-play strikes from Kevin De Bruyne and Ilkay Gündogan and penalties for Riyad Mahrez and Raheem Sterling.

Three second-half efforts for Leicester – netted by James Maddison, Lookman and Kelechi Iheanacho – threatened to inspire an improbable comeback by the visitors. Aymeric Laporte and Sterling, though, struck late on for Pep Guardiola's side to put the match beyond the Foxes.

Speaking at full-time, after becoming the first side to score three league goals at Etihad Stadium since Leicester's 5-2 win there last September, on-loan winger Lookman provided his assessment to LCFC TV. Although defensive issues continue to be a source of frustration, City's No.37 can find positives.

Mixed Emotions For Lookman

Goalscorer Ademola Lookman gave his assessment of Leicester City's 6-3 defeat to Manchester City at Etihad Stadium.

"It’s mixed emotions," he said. "Obviously, going 4-0 down in the first half, and coming back out, scoring three goals, it’s 4-3 and we’re almost going to equalise. They scored two more goals, so it’s disappointing.

"It’s a top team we were playing against with high-quality players. Obviously, we knew that, but I think we showed our quality in moments. We created a lot of chances today, so we can take positives from the game. We create opportunities for each other and that’s always a good thing.

"As we keep on playing, the confidence between us will grow and we’ll create even more chances together."

Watch all nine goals from Leicester City's Premier League meeting with Manchester City at Etihad Stadium.

The second half represented a significant test of Leicester's resolve in the North West. Although eventually falling to defeat, the travelling Blue Army witnessed their side battle until the very end in testing circumstances – something they must now look to build on, says Lookman.

"It was just about showing our character really, not going out in the second half feeling sorry for ourselves," he explained. "We tried to take the game to the opposition and I felt like we did that. I missed a few games through illness, so I’m just glad to be back. I’ll keep working and keep striving to improve.

"Especially when it was 4-3, you felt that energy from the fans. Every single goal that we got back, they got louder and louder and you could feel the home supporters getting a bit nervous. It’s just a shame that we couldn’t get the fourth goal to make it 4-4 and maybe go on to win the game.

"It’s gone now and we move onto the next on."
