Slender Spurs Loss For Young Foxes

Leicester City's U18 Premier League South season began with a 1-0 defeat by Tottenham Hotspur at LCFC Training Ground on Saturday.

The young Foxes, who finished last term in fifth place, started the new season having also competed in and hosted the Premier League Next Gen Cup over the summer months. It was a disappointing opening, though, as Jaden William's 10th-minute strike condemned City to a day-one defeat.

Later on, Leicester's youngsters were also reduced to 10 men in Seagrave, as striker Chris Popov was shown a red card. It's a challenging next outing for City, too, as they travel to Cobham to tackle Chelsea on Saturday 20 August (12pm BST kick-off).

The Foxes, however, took six points from the Blues last term. The side, coached by Adam Barradell, are 11th in the early standings.

The details...

City: Weeks; Grist, Lindsay, Cartwright, Wilson-Brown; Cook, Joseph (Mirsad 63'), Lewis (Toure 80'), Briggs, Richards (Evans 57'), Popov.

Subs not used: McAlinney, French
