Elliott: The Scoreline Was Fair

- City twice narrowed the scoreline but conceded shortly after their goals to lose control of the game
- They are next in Premier League action against Southampton at King Power Stadium this weekend
Gabriel Jesus' brace saw the Gunners race into a two-goal lead at Emirates Stadium, before William Saliba's own goal gave City hope. The home side instantly restored their two-goal cushion through Granit Xhaka and, although James Maddison then made it 3-2, Gabriel Martinelli soon added a fourth.
The timing of the goals was undoubtedly frustrating for Leicester, who are yet to record their first Premier League win of the season, but Elliott has no complaints about the scoreline. He says Mikel Arteta's men showed why they are considered to be one of the strongest sides in the league this term.
City Score Twice In Arsenal Reverse
All the goals from Emirates Stadium as Leicester City were beaten 4-2 by Arsenal on Saturday.
"There are a few issues to address for Brendan Rodgers," Elliott told LCFC TV's Matchday Live show. "Primarily, how does he go about future games and approaching them? Leicester were a little bit too open today, really, against the quality of Arsenal. They ultimately paid the price.
"They could have tightened up, of course, in certain individual moments. On the overall reflection of game, I thought the scoreline was fair, which isn't a usual occurrence. 4-2 was about right today."
Elliott nonetheless believes there were some positives for City. Despite the scorching temperatures in the capital, he believes Leicester's fitness levels were good. The Foxes next entertain Southampton to King Power Stadium on Saturday (3pm BST kick-off).
Rodgers: Our Intent Was There
Manager Brendan Rodgers provides his assessment on Leicester City's 4-2 defeat by Arsenal on Saturday.
"Whichever way Leicester lined up, with a back three, four or five, this Arsenal side were always going to cause problems," Elliott explained. "Jesus was on fire. Leicester did some good things and looked quite confident in how they were playing. They did look fit and strong for this stage of the season.
"It was something which was said last week against Brentford, that they tired, but I don't think that was the case at all in this game. They can't be too harsh on themselves because Arsenal are a very good outfit."
