King Power Stadium will host LCFC Women’s first fixture of 2022/23, with the Foxes about to commence their second campaign in the top flight after a lengthy pre-season schedule.

And sights are now firmly set on improving on last term's 11th place finish, Purfield told CITY when speaking to the first edition of the Club programme earlier this week.

“We can’t wait,” the defender revealed. “We’ve had a long pre-season but in a good way. It’s been really productive and we’ve really gelled as a group both on and off the pitch. We’re more than ready to get the season started and are confident in our ability.

“I’m feeling really prepared. We know what challenges we’re going to face throughout the season and I think last year only made us stronger. We’ve obviously made some additions to that too so we’re ready to go on that front.

“I think we’re the fittest team we’ve had here at Leicester, we’ve got depth in the squad and time has been used efficiently over a long pre-season, making sure we’ve touched all bases to ensure we’re completely ready to compete.”

With impressive support at King Power Stadium last season, seeing the Blue Army turn up in their numbers, the full-back is looking forward to even greater crowds at home games, providing a boost on the pitch.

Our fans were fantastic and we’re hoping that we can keep those numbers going up and really put on some fantastic shows on Filbert Way this season.

“We’re so lucky to have such a fantastic stadium,” the 25-year-old added. “And have the men’s side really support us with that – not every club can say that, so it’s a credit to us and the Club.

“We love playing at King Power Stadium and it got to a stage last season where it felt like home when we arrived and we really enjoyed that atmosphere in that environment. Our fans were fantastic and we’re hoping that we can keep those numbers going up and really put on some fantastic shows on Filbert Way this season.”
