Filbert the Fox

Filbert Fox Delights Grateful Project 15 Families

Leicester City mascot, Filbert Fox, was in the west of the city thrilling participants young and old on the Project 15 programme.

- Project 15 works with families in New Parks and St. Matthews
- The programme aims to get families engaged back in the community
- It is funded by the Premier League and Professional Footballers Association

- Filbert Fox joined a Parent and Toddlers session, much to the delight of the participants
- Çağlar Söyüncü and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall helped launch the programme in August

New Parks residents were treated to a surprise visit at one Monday morning session that highlighted the need for such interventions.

Project 15, funded by The Premier League and Professional Footballers Association (PLPFA), aims to get hard to reach families engaged into the community.

Leicester City’s charitable arm works alongside Team Hub in New Parks to ensure families in the area get the support the need, from re-establishing a social life, to support financially.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Çağlar Söyüncü helped launch the project in Seagrave back in August 2022.

Michelle Bradbury, in one of the 10 families that Leicester City in the Community are working with, highlighted the difference Project 15 has made to her household.

“I was stuck and isolated,” Michelle admitted. “As a family, we didn’t know where to reach out and who to speak to, then when I came to see Team Hub, things started to get better.

“I now take part in cooking and Ethan (Michelle’s son) to Parents and Toddlers, which he really enjoys. When I do have issues with anything, the Team Hub has always been there – if it wasn’t for Team Hub, I don’t think I would be where I am now.”

Project 15 launched in August, with Foxes pair Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Çağlar Söyüncü celebrating with families of New Parks and St Matthews at LCFC Training Ground.

Now, they (the participants) have really come out of their shells. They have gained some confidence.

Dawn Tobin Project 15 Coach at Leicester City in the Community

Dawn Tobin, Project 15 Coach at Leicester City in the Community discussed the Project 15 impact.

“Some of the families were not doing anything,” said Dawn. “Now, they have really come out of their shells. “They have gained some confidence; some have even been going to college to do qualifications and hopefully go to work. Families got to meet Filbert Fox and they absolutely loved it!”
