Barnes: Every Game's Important Now

- Leicester City drew 1-1 with Brentford at Gtech Community Stadium on Saturday
- Harvey Barnes netted for the Foxes, who are now 17th in the Premier League
- The Academy graduate says City are ready for the battle for survival

That draw at Gtech Community Stadium halted a five-game losing run and, although it wasn't enough to stop City dropping to 17th, there were positive signs from Brendan Rodgers' men. After half-time, Barnes netted his ninth goal of the season to equalise Mathias Jensen's 31st-minute opener, before Shandon Baptiste was dismissed in second-half added time. 

An 11-game run-in begins after the international break, starting away at currently managerless Crystal Palace a week on Saturday. Barnes is optimistic that this Saturday's point on the road can be the first of many before the end of the season.

"Every game is going to be important going forward now," the Academy graduate told LCFC TV. "We play a lot of teams around us over the next month or so, so they're going to all be big games. They're all chances for us. They're six pointers really. You beat them and you see yourself looking up the table. There's probably eight or nine teams now who are in the fight.

"We've got to aim to top that mini league and get ourselves out as far away from the bottom three as we can, as quickly as we can as well. That's important. Hopefully we can go on a good run after the break.

"We'll get everyone back fit and healthy and have a good, strong finish to the season."

In circumstances like the one Leicester now find themselves, singular points can be the difference between success and failure come May. Barnes hopes this one could be crucial for the Foxes, who are just one point above the bottom three.

"That could be an important point come the end of the season," he added. "I thought we played well. It was a very even game. We switched off a bit for their goal. They got a bit lucky with the deflection, but I think we responded well to that.

"We got the goal in the second half and then we were pushing, going for the win, but it wasn't to be today. It's a good draw in the end. You can see the lads were giving their all. We obviously got the goal, got back in the game, defended well.

"They were obviously pushing for the win as well. They're a good side. They've been playing well this year. They would have looked at the game thinking they could go and win it, so it was a good battle in that second half. The lads really dug in and played some good football at times. We were trying to push.

"We probably didn't have any big chances, but we were pushing in that sense. They obviously went down to 10 men and it's late in the game. It wasn't to be today, but it was good to stop the rot of [losing].

"It was important before the break to finish on a bit of a high and get ourselves a point on the board."
