Mahrez: No Pressure

While beaten at Goodison Park by Everton on Sunday, the Foxes are bursting with confidence having won their previous six fixtures prior to the . 

The Algerian has played his part in City’s fairytale UEFA Champions League campaign this term, scoring four goals in Europe, and the importance of Leicester’s is certainly not lost on the former Le Havre man. 

But he insists his side head to the Spanish capital with the aim of enforcing their own style of play on the game. 

“We’re very confident. Of course, it’s still Atlético Madrid. We’re confident in ourselves,” said the winger prior to the clash. 

“We’ll try to get a good result over there, which won’t be easy, but there is no added pressure, we’ll play our game like we’re used to. 

“We have no objectives. We look forward. If we go through, we go through, if we don’t make it, we don’t make it.” 

Mahrez believes the intensity at which City played , coupled with the Blue Army’s unwavering support, was key to their victory on Filbert Way. 

He added: “It was simply amazing. Especially at home, we knew that our crowd would spur us on. We know our crowd, our fans. We went all out to win that game, we played with a lot of intensity, and in the end it paid off. 

“The atmosphere was incredible. There’s a great atmosphere at English stadiums, especially here, and it was one of those big nights. 

“Getting through that tie is one of the best memories that I have with Leicester, there was such a good atmosphere. We enjoyed celebrating it, although we had the next game coming up soon after, so we couldn’t go overboard. We were all over the moon.”
