Danny Drinkwater admitted the on Wednesday night was a bitter pill to swallow but says Leicester City can use it as motivation at West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.

Robert Huth’s unfortunate own goal in the 86th minute proved crucial as the Foxes continue their pursuit of 40 points. The visitors were a match for the north London outfit throughout but opportunities for Riyad Mahrez and Shinji Okazaki were squandered at Emirates Stadium.

Drinkwater delivered another assured display for City alongside midfield partner Wilfred Ndidi and the England international says the squad are already looking ahead to the trip to the Hawthorns on Saturday. The sting of frustration, Drinkwater says, can spur them on in the West Midlands.

“It’s frustrating,” the 27-year-old told LCFC TV. “I don’t think we were at our best tonight but I felt that we had done enough to deserve more than what we got out of the game, especially the way we conceded the goal. It’s unfortunate. I don’t know what to say about the game to be honest. It’s a tough one to take but we’ll take any positives out of the game to West Brom."

“They’re a good team on the ball so, to be able to hold them off for so long, it took a bit of fortune on their side. Defensively it just showed how solid we were tonight. It was probably frustrating for the strikers. We knew it was tough coming here and we knew what we had to do to get the points.”

Drinkwater added: “On another night, we would have created a bit more. There are positives we can take and I’m sure we’ll turn it around come Saturday.”
