- Tottenham Hotspur travel to Filbert Way having missed out on the Premier League title this term
- City can still finish in the top half of the table with positive results this week, starting on Thursday
- Pochettino believes Leicester have coped well with a more hectic fixture schedule this season
Mauricio Pochettino says Leicester City have acquitted themselves well this term after tackling the fixture congestion that comes with UEFA Champions League qualification.
The Foxes progressed all the way to the quarter-finals of European football’s platinum club competition this season and could still finish in the top half of the Premier League table if they are able to pick up positive results against and AFC Bournemouth on Sunday afternoon.
Spurs, meanwhile, missed out on the title to London rivals Chelsea earlier this month and are already looking ahead to next season in their bid to end a 56-year wait to be crowned champions of England for the third time.
Speaking to the national media on Wednesday, Tottenham boss Pochettino provided his thoughts on City’s campaign so far: “They deserve all the credit for last season because they were the best like Chelsea today.
"We talk a lot about how competitive the Premier League is.
“They struggled from the beginning of the season and then it was difficult to recover the pace and the consistency in the Premier League and then when you play in the Champions League, it’s always tough.
“For them it was the first time for all the players to share the Champions League, the Premier League and the cups.
"For us, it’s good because after two seasons we are one of the best teams but now is a moment next season to try to win again and try to fight.
“I think we are in a very good way. If we are consistent to push, push, push I think we will achieve what we want – that is to win trophies. That is important for us.”
