Huth Happy As Leicester Convert Another Lead

- Defender Robert Huth hails resilience to hold off West Ham fightback

Robert Huth says a resurgence in form was always possible for Leicester City, once the Foxes started getting their noses in front again.
The big German defender was among the goals at West Ham United’s London Stadium on Saturday, as City surged to their third straight Premier League victory and their first on the road this season. Riyad Mahrez and Jamie Vardy also struck in a superb first-half showing from Craig Shakespeare’s side, who clung resiliently to three points despite Manuel Lanzini and Andre Ayew hitting back for the Irons. City have won every game in which they have led this season and, having flown out of the traps with two goals inside seven minutes in the capital, Huth was pleased to see the pattern continue.

“Absolutely awesome,” he said after the game. “We were due an away win, so it’s good to come back with the three points.
“I always felt we just needed to get 1-0 up in a game. It happened against Liverpool. Since then, we’ve been getting 1-0 up and we haven’t been beaten. Long may it continue.
“It’s something we’ve done all season – once we go ahead, we don’t tend to lose games. It was something we wanted to achieve today and we managed it.
“We made it a bit harder at the end and we were hanging on a bit. Perhaps we could have wrapped the game up earlier, but we got there.”

The win capped a superb week for Shakespeare’s side, who advanced to the last eight of the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday with a epic victory over Sevilla at King Power Stadium.
And while Huth felt the effects of that performance may have been on show in the latter stages at the London Stadium, he hopes the forthcoming international break can allow time for a breather before City host his former club Stoke City on 1 April.
“I think we were a bit tired at the end and we were hanging on a bit, but we managed to get a 2-0 lead early-on, which set us up for the game,” he said.
“The next game, which is the most important, is Stoke after a two-week break. Hopefully now we can recharge the batteries, then go again."
