Harvey Barnes helped England Under-20s retain their Toulon Tournament title on Saturday evening, as the young Lions defeated the Ivory Coast on penalties.

The Leicester City Academy youngster has featured heavily for Neil Dewsnip’s side out in France, having scored braces against both Cuba and Scotland – the latter double coming in the semi-finals on Thursday.

Barnes started the final in Aubagne, where England took an early lead thanks to Sheffield United midfielder David Brooks’ 14th-minute effort.

But after George Hirst missed from the spot, the young Lions were pegged back in the last minute as Ake Loba converted a penalty to haul the Ivory Coast Level.

The tie went straight to penalties, with Barnes successfully converting the third of five to help his nation to a 5-3 shootout victory.

Fellow Fox Elliott Moore, who helped England Under-20s beat Japan earlier in the tournament, was an unused substitute on Saturday.
