Waghorn Makes Wigan Switch Permanent

Striker Martyn Waghorn has today completed a permanent transfer to Wigan Athletic.
The 24-year-old forward joins the Latics following a two-month loan spell at The DW Stadium, where he has made nine appearances and scored three goals for Uwe Rosler’s side.

As Martyn joined Wigan on a standard loan in January, his permanent transfer is able to be completed outside of the transfer window.

The move brings to an end Martyn’s near-five year association with Leicester City, where he initially arrived on a season-long loan from Sunderland in August 2009, before making the move permanent the following summer.

A popular figure among staff, team-mates and supporters, he went on to make 116 appearances for the Foxes, the most recent of which came as a substitute at Stoke City in the FA Cup with Budweiser in January. His 20 goals in City blue included some truly memorable efforts, including a stunning strike at Coventry City in October 2009.

Leicester City would like to place on record its thanks to Martyn for his contribution to the Club during his time at King Power Stadium and wish him the very best of luck in the future.
