Squad Straight To Work In Bangkok

The Leicester City squad hit the ground running following their arrival in Bangkok, as preparations for Sunday’s friendly against Everton gathered pace.
Having only touched down shortly after 3pm local time (9am BST), the Foxes squad followed up their afternoon pool recovery with a split session in sweltering evening conditions.

First it was off to a local gym facility for some upper body work, before the group made their way to the nearby home of Thai Premier League outfit Army United for the first football session of the trip – played out in intense humidity.

Despite the football session not getting under way until around 10.30pm local time, temperatures were still nudging the high twenties as the players took to the field, giving them an early taste of what is come at the Supachalasai Stadium on Sunday.

All members of the travelling party took part in a high-tempo session, which consisted of technical work, attacking shape and an 11 v 11 game to finish in front of the Club's onlooking owners Vichai and Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha.

Assistant manager Craig Shakespeare said: “The first session was actually a bit sharper than we might have expected. We wanted the players to get straight to work once we got here and their application was absolutely spot on.

“We had a long flight, so it was important to get a good session in to get them moving. The tempo was excellent and they’ve all come off the training pitch having worked really hard.”

Thursday’s schedule kicks off with a pre-match press conference for the Thai media at Bangkok airport, alongside the arriving Everton squad led by Roberto Martinez.
