Pearson Hoping To Welcome Back Duo

Ahead of a tough Barclays Premier League clash with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, City boss Nigel Pearson was hopeful of a double injury boost.
While the Foxes impressed many with their performance against Everton at King Power Stadium on the opening weekend, the loss of Danny Drinkwater to a minor hamstring injury in the first half was a concern.

However the short-term nature of the injury to City’s Player of the Season was welcome news to Foxes fans, who may be welcoming back a couple of other faces if all goes well in the build up to the game.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Pearson said: “Jamie Vardy and Marc Albrighton have been training so there is a possibility of them being involved in the squad for the weekend, which is positive for us.”

Vardy had been suffering with a thigh problem, while summer signing Albrighton picked up a groin injury in City’s final pre-season game against Werder Bremen earlier this month.

Defender Matt Upson is still missing with a foot injury, but the manager was happy with his squad and gave an update on the status of Drinkwater and Matty James (shin).

"We're OK in terms of availability,” added Pearson. “The long terms ones won’t be available for a while. It is probably a week too early for both Danny Drinkwater and Matty James.

"The other two (Vardy and Albrighton) have trained so we’ll see how they are on Friday.”
