Vardy: We Never Give Up

Saturday’s goal hero Jamie Vardy is determined to help Leicester City land a knockout blow in the fight for survival after a 3-2 victory over West Brom narrowed the gap to safety to three points.
Twice behind in the match, the Foxes mustered an inspired second half display full of both guts and quality to secure the three points in dramatic fashion – Vardy’s stoppage time stunner sealing it.

It was a fearless performance typical of a Leicester City side determined to climb the league and an attitude embodied by the Blue Army in the stands – all of whom had the ‘#fearless’ motto emblazoned across their chests courtesy of free t-shirts.

“We never give up, it’s as simple as that,” Vardy told Foxes Player at full-time. “In the past we’ve ran ourselves into the ground and not been able to come away with the points.

“But I think this shows you just what we’re about, and if you look at the fans at the end, you can see just what it means to them as well.”

Consecutive victories over West Ham and West Brom have changed many people’s view of the Foxes, who have gone from being seven points adrift, to just three points off 17th, with games in hand and five of their remaining seven fixtures at home.

Next up is Swansea City at King Power Stadium on Saturday afternoon, and although Vardy admits he’ll enjoy watching the Baggies triumph back on TV, he says the focus is very much on the weekend.

“It’s back-to-back wins now,” said Vardy. “But we’ll go straight back out onto the training field and try for three out of three, it’s as simple as that. We’ve just got to keep getting the points that will keep moving us towards safety, and that’s all that matters.

“I’ll definitely be watching it (the West Brom game) on Match of the Day though. It’s a good way to watch the game back before we get back into training. It’ll be nice and relaxed at home with the family before I get back into training.”
