Ranieri: Our Fans Will Push Us

- The Foxes take on Jurgen Klopp’s men at a sold out King Power Stadium 

- Ranieri believes it is important for his side to learn from the 1-0 Barclays Premier League defeat at Anfield on Boxing Day 

The vociferous Blue Army could make the difference when Leicester City host Liverpool at King Power Stadium on Tuesday, according to manager Claudio Ranieri.

A sold out King Power Stadium awaits the Foxes, who know first-hand just how special an atmosphere the Club’s fans can create. 

And the City boss believes it is that support that will spur his side on that little bit more when they take on an outfit that are one of just two sides to beat Leicester in the Barclays Premier League this campaign. 

He said: “It’s a different kind of team [to the side we faced on Boxing Day] and we play at home. Our fans will push us very strongly. I’m confident but we are ready to fight. 

“Revenge in football and sport is not important. It’s important to understand how we lost there [at Anfield]. 

“We remember the match we played there. We tried to do our best. It wasn’t possible because they defended very, very well.” 

Ranieri’s men remain grounded despite now occupying the Premier League’s top spot for a total of 43 days this term, and the City boss explained that it is all down to his side’s ability to concentrate on their next match only. 

The City boss added: “For us it’s important now to focus 100 per cent as if tomorrow is our last match – tomorrow is the end of the Premier League for us. 

“I said at the end of the first part of the season we achieve 39 points. Now I want my team to improve. 

“In the second part of the season I want to achieve 40 points. 39 and then 40 points – I’m happy. If we can take something more I’m happier but now it’s important to focused.”
