King: Cool Heads For Derby

Andy King is aiming to send the Blue Army home from King Power Stadium with bragging rights in tow on Saturday, when City host local rivals Derby in the npower Championship (kick-off 5.20pm).

Games against the Rams are always stand-out fixtures for the Foxes faithful and ones that have proved fruitful in recent campaigns, with City doing the double over their East Midlands rivals in each of the last two seasons.

Midfield maestro King is keen to see that run continue on Saturday, as the Foxes look to build on their impressive home record this term, including a 6-0 thumping of Ipswich Town last time out.

And after a first defeat in five games at Leeds on Tuesday night, a return to winning ways would be an important boost to City’s promotion ambitions.

"They're all big games at the moment because of where we're trying to get to, but Derby obviously has a bit more on it because of what it means to the fans,” Kingy said.

"We've done that pretty well in the last few, especially against Derby, so we'll be looking to keep that going with the fans' help on Saturday.

"Our record at King Power Stadium has been great so far this season and we put six past Ipswich last time out, so the whole squad should be full of confidence.”

The passion generated by both sets of fans is likely to make for a white-hot atmosphere at King Power Stadium on Saturday, as the two rivals get set for their first meeting of the current season.

And King reckons City will need to use the occasion to their advantage, without letting it overwhelm them.

"There's a different atmosphere at derby games. There's a lot of emotion involved, which can help if you channel it the right way, but you have to balance that by playing with a cool head,” he said.

"If we get things right performance-wise, we'll have a great chance of picking up a result. I'm sure the fans will go to work or school on Monday morning with smiles on their faces if we do."
