The Foxes take on Tony Pulis’ men in their first game of pre-season at the Hong Kong Stadium (11am kick-off) and will face either Liverpool or Crystal Palace in the second game on Saturday.

Albrighton reported back to the Club on 3 July and now into his third week of pre-season, he is eager to get back into action.

“You know that in pre-season, you’re in for a lot of running and a lot of fitness tests, but ultimately you want to play games as soon as possible,” he told LCFC TV prior to the game.

Every team that plays in this competition will want to get the fitness out of it and that’ll be the thing that’s most important.

“With the exciting games that we’ve got coming up against West Brom and another Premier League team in the second game, it’s fantastic to test yourselves against teams you’re going to be playing throughout your league campaign.

“When you play teams in pre-season, it could be anything. You could get two different starting XIs from each side just to experiment in formations.

“Players that have just returned may not be up to the fitness that players that have been here since day one are.

Albrighton Excited For Challenge

LCFC TV caught up with Marc Albrighton after the Foxes' first training session in Hong Kong ahead of their opening Premier League Asia Trophy fixture against West Brom on Wednesday.

“Every team that plays in this competition will want to get the fitness out of it and that’ll be the thing that’s most important. If we can do that, then it’ll be a successful evening.”

City completed their first training session in Hong Kong on Tuesday morning and Albrighton believes the heat and humidity will be the most difficult challenge for his side.

Craig Shakespeare's squad trained in Hong Kong on Tuesday afternoon.

He added: “The humidity out here makes it very close and it’s difficult to play in, especially when you’re not used to it.

“It’ll be good for us and the setting is brilliant to play football in. As the week goes on it’ll get easier. Obviously, we got off a long flight yesterday, so one or two of the lads might still be suffering from that.

“We’ve travelled a lot and we haven’t seen much of the ball and as footballers, all we want to do is get on the training pitch.”
