The triumph followed a successful pre-season campaign, where they faced foreign opposition, as well as Liverpool and Manchester United.

A first fixture of the season at Belvoir Drive comes next for the Under-18s on Saturday, when they host a Tottenham Hotspur side that swept aside Norwich City 4-0 during their 2017/18 opener (11:30am kick-off).

It was the Club’s Development Squad who completed City’s involvement with a testing clash against former Sunderland boss Ricky Sbragia’s Manchester United on Monday.

Steve Beaglehole was encouraged with the performance of his team, who were undone only be Demetri Mitchell’s excellent free kick.

First teamer Robert Huth, currently recovering from an ankle problem, completed an hour, while summer signing George Thomas, formerly of Coventry City, made his first appearance in a Leicester shirt.

Coming up for the Under-23s is a trip to the Merseyrail Community Stadium on Friday evening to face current Premier League 2 champions Everton (7pm kick-off).
