City See Off Spurs To Maintain 100 Per Cent Record

Leicester City continued their excellent start to the new Premier League 2 U18 campaign with an enthralling 4-2 victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday afternoon.

- The Club's Under-18s won their second match in a row, over Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday
- Goals from Tyrese Shade, Connor Tee, Calvin Ughelumba and George Heaven were the difference
- Leicester City have now secured six points from their opening two league fixtures
- Trevor Peake was thrilled with the efforts of his youthful squad at Belvoir Drive

Tyrese Shade, Connor Tee, Calvin Ughelumba and George Heaven found the net at Belvoir Drive to overwhelm Spurs, helping the Club making it three wins from three across all levels this weekend.

However, the young Foxes fell behind early on when Reo Griffiths gave the visitors a one-goal lead before three goals in 17 minutes put Trevor Peake’s men in a commanding position.

When Shade broke free in space on 24 minutes, the new Academy recruit fought off Phoenix Patterson before slotting it beyond visiting goalkeeper Jonathan De Die.

The hosts took the lead quickly after when Tee blasted home a powerful effort after 37 minutes as Peake’s men continued their first half resurgence.

It got better for City at the Club’s training ground when Ughelumba converted a spot-kick he had won to put his side further ahead.

Despite pressure from Spurs, the Foxes swiftly added a fourth after the interval when Tee’s smart free-kick was headed over the line by Heaven.

Griffiths narrowed the scoreline late on, but this result sets Leicester up perfectly for the visit of Reading to Belvoir Drive on Saturday 26 August (12pm kick-off).

At full-time, Peake said: “A big part of this age group is the winning mentality and we’ve been able to show that in two different ways in the matches we’ve played so far.

“Last year was very disappointing on league position but we did get half a dozen players through to the higher Under-23s level, that’s the pay-off.

“This year we are looking really strong as a team with loads of energy. That has been reflected on the scoresheet.”
