Leicester A Learning Curve For Dragovic

The Austria defender has joined on loan until the end of the 2017/18 campaign and brings with him a wealth of experience at both club and international level.

He has swiftly settled in at the Foxes thanks to his welcoming team-mates and is looking forward to the challenge that is ahead of him.

“I’m happy to be here in England and Leicester,” Dragović said during his first interview with the Club. “I’m happy to learn from my team-mates and the squad the England mentality.

“I want to learn more and I want to help the team. I must say that my team-mates have helped me a lot and I can only say thank you to them. They’ve helped me a lot on the pitch and off it.”

We have a very good squad and we must be like friends on the pitch and be together. That is the most important thing if we want to win.

Dragović has lifted 10 trophies during his career to date and believes the physicality of the Premier League will be a huge test.

He added: “I’ve played a lot of games across Europe but I also know that the English game can be quite physical. I saw Wes Morgan and the other players and they are machines! I must also work a lot in the gym, but I will give my best to help the team.

“Every country has some differences. In Spain, it’s very technical but here it’s physical. In Germany it’s tactical also, so it’s good to learn.

“I won titles with Basel, but they’re like Bayern Munich from Germany. There are big clubs in England and I know for Leicester to win the championship again is very difficult, but you never know.

The Austrian joined the Club in August 2017.

“We must only think game by game and give our best, then in the end, we’ll see what we make. We have a lot of good players – [Riyad] Mahrez, [Islam] Slimani, [Jamie] Vardy – I can say everybody.

“We have a very good squad and we must be like friends on the pitch and be together. That is the most important thing if we want to win.”

A familiar face at Belvoir Drive for Dragović is fellow Austrian Christian Fuchs, who has been on hand to help the 26-year-old during his first few weeks at the Club.

“I’m very happy he is here because he helps me a lot,” said the centre back. “I can speak to him in my language also – German – because it’s a little bit easier.

I’ve played a lot of games across Europe but I also know that the English game can be quite physical.

“I know him from the national team and he’s a very good left defender. I hope he comes back to the national team! I’m happy to be here with him and to spend time on the pitch and off it.

“I’ll watch him on his Snapchat and Instagram at home. He’s a funny guy, but I’m quieter.”
