Okazaki, who replaced Leonardo Ulloa in the second half, opened the scoring in the 65th minute before City cemented their supremacy as Islam Slimani struck from distance late on.
“Maybe we had a good motivation,” the Japan international told LCFC TV at full-time. “But as players [in the first half] we played a little bit defensive and Liverpool were more offensive.
“In the second half, the manager wanted more pressure and I tried to do that. It’s a good result and a good performance today. I have made a good start to this season, I feel fit.
