Albrighton: We Gave Everything
- Marc Albrighton says Leicester City can be proud of their work ethic against Liverpool on Saturday
- Craig Shakespeare’s men were edged 3-2 at King Power Stadium in the Premier League
- Albrighton was pleased to see the Club’s strikers firing despite the loss
Early strikes from Mohamed Salah and Phlippe Coutinho put the Reds into a 2-0 lead, but Shinji Okazaki’s close-range finish gave City a lifeline on the stroke of half-time.
Jordan Henderson restored Liverpool’s two goal advantage shortly after and while Jamie Vardy headed in to set up a grandstand finish at King Power Stadium, he couldn’t convert for a second time after being denied by Simon Mignolet from the spot.
“It’s very disappointing,” Albrighton told LCFC TV after the game. “We left ourselves with a mountain to climb after conceding a third goal.
We chucked everything at them in different stages of the game but it’s when you want them second balls to fall your way and they don’t.

“A goal just before half-time set us up nicely to come out and have a right go at them, but I think we probably chucked too much forward early on and they broke on us and we conceded a sloppy goal.
“When you’re 3-1 down, it’s always hard to get back in the game. We had a good go, but it wasn’t enough.

“They broke on us, scored and all of a sudden you’ve got a two-goal deficit to haul back and it’s difficult.”
Albrighton's Reaction To Liverpool Loss
Leicester City wideman Marc Albrighton speaks to LCFC TV after Saturday's defeat.
Okazaki netted a second goal in the space of five days against Jurgen Klopp’s men and for Albrighton, it is promising that City’s frontmen continue to be productive in front of goal.
He added: “Shinji seems to pop up when you want him to and when he needs to. With his attitude and work rate, he’s always going to create chances for himself and create chances for the team.
“It’s always good when your strikers are scoring. We’ve got some great attacking players here and obviously we want them to get on the scoresheet as much as possible.”
