- Ben Chilwell and Wilfred Ndidi are both fit to face West Brom on Monday, says the City boss

The City No.9 was struggling with a hip problem before the international break but after receiving an injection and enjoying a period of time off, he is fit to face the Baggies.

Vardy has been in fine form this season having scored five goals in seven Premier League appearances and hit the winner the last time the Foxes faced West Brom back in April.

“Jamie Vardy has fully recovered from his hip problem,” said the City boss. “He had the injections straight after the Bournemouth game. He was given a bit of time away because he wasn’t able to do anything.

“But he has trained fully this week every day and he has looked sharp. I am really pleased to report there are no ill effects from that. Going forward for us and the national team, if selected, he is back.”

Shakespeare also confirmed Wilfred Ndidi’s fitness after he returned from international duty with Nigeria, while Ben Chilwell has recovered from a knee problem that saw him withdraw from the most recent England Under-21s squad.

Shakespeare said: “It is always a strange week international week but playing Monday has helped us this time in terms of getting everyone back and getting a clean bill of health.

“There was a scare about Wilfred Ndidi but it was only cramp. He trained today (Thursday) fully. He is fine, no problems there.

“Ben [Chilwell] has trained today. He was a concern. It was against Liverpool when he took a dead leg.

“It was a swelling on the knee, which they took a precaution on, and I am grateful to England for doing that. He has been working indoors but has trained fully today. He is available for Monday.”

Meanwhile, Shakespeare confirmed Adrien Silva is now training with the first team squad.

The City boss said: "I can thankfully report he is training with us. He is training with us and I speak to him on a regular basis during training to make sure he's fully focused on what his requirements are, but he is training with us.

"I am still getting to know him and I don't know him 100 per cent yet. I think it was always difficult because ultimately he's a footballer and he's going to have his moments because he wants to play football and train.

The Portuguese international is now training with the Foxes.

"He's had to miss out not only on club football but international football and we've tried to keep his spirits up.

"The camaraderie and the banter is brilliant in and around the changing rooms and I wanted to integrate him as quickly as possible and I can do that now. He's out on the training pitch now which is great for him and great for me."

Finally, both Robert Huth (ankle) and Matty James (Achilles) will not feature on Monday, as they continue their recovery from injury.

Shakespeare added: “All the internationals have returned with a good clean bill of health. In terms of injuries, Robert Huth and Matty James are longer term and won’t be available for Monday.”
