On Friday afternoon, defender Sam Hughes found the net as the Under-23s opened the Club's involvement with a hard-fought 1-1 draw at Tottenham Hotspur.

Hughes’ first-half header was cancelled out by Samuel Shashoua’s close-range finish as the Foxes followed up Tuesday’s 3-1 Premier League Cup win at Barnsley with a point in Premier League 2.

Steve Beaglehole was pleased to see his side pick up a point after a tough week.

Steve Beaglehole’s men are now unbeaten in six outings in all competitions and they sit in fifth place in the table, with West Ham United leapfrogging them with a 4-2 success over Manchester United.

The Under-23s manager felt his side deserved to win the match and was pleased with the application of his young squad against a strong outfit on Hotspur Way.

But the best chance of the first period fell to Danny Simpson. On his 100th appearance for the Club, he was denied a maiden City goal after Boaz Myhill kept his half-volley out.

The visitors opened the scoring after the break when Nacer Chadli’s strike from 30 yards gave his side the lead with 63 minutes on the clock.

The Foxes put their guests under considerable pressure in the latter stages, however, and it eventually told when Mahrez combined with Algeria team-mate Islam Slimani to level the scores.
