The Foxes, under the guidance of Caretaker Manager Michael Appleton, head to South Wales hoping to record their first away win of the 2017/18 Premier League campaign.

Maguire, who has started every top-flight fixture this term, knows just how difficult Saturday’s encounter is likely to be, but says his side are eyeing nothing but a victory.

“We know as a group of players that we’ve got a big game on Saturday,” Maguire told LCFC TV. “We’ll get together today (Thursday) and we’ll train hard today and tomorrow.

“Appy (Michael Appleton) will look after us and lead us out on Saturday and I’m sure we’ll all be fighting and working hard in training to try and get a starting spot in the team.

“There’s no getting away from the fact that it’s a big game and we want the three points. I’m sure they do too so it should be an exciting game and it’s one that we’re looking forward to.

“We’ve got a great group of players in terms of the mental side of the game. We’ve got a great team ethic and I’m sure we’ll have a meeting and look at the things that we need to move forward with and the way we’re going to go about things.

If we’d had won on Monday night, which we’d set out to do, we’d have jumped up to 13th place. It’s not a big gap but wins are hard in the Premier League.

“The bottom line of the meeting will be that we’ve got a big game on Saturday and it’s not one that we want to let pass us by. We’re after three points, so hopefully we’ll move up the league table.”

A chance to climb as high as 11th in the Premier League table presents itself to City who, after picking up six points from eight games, have had a challenging start to the season.

Maguire continued: “If we’d had won on Monday night, which we’d set out to do, we’d have jumped up to 13th place. It’s not a big gap but wins are hard in the Premier League.

“Every win that you get, you have to cherish. We’re more than capable with the ability that we’ve got in the team.

“I think we’ll look back at the start of the season, I don’t think the performances have been too bad. Yes, at Huddersfield and Bournemouth we started slow and that’s not ourselves and on Monday night it was hard to get the tempo up.

“They came and they tried to frustrate us and they did what West Brom do. It’s been fine margins, but fine margins are big consequences in this game and we know that’s football.”
