Appleton: We’re A Positive Group

The 41-year-old will take charge of his first game as Caretaker Manager at Liberty Stadium in the hope of helping City to their first top-flight win since August.

The Foxes began preparations for the clash on Thursday at Belvoir Drive and Appleton says focus must be purely on putting in a productive display against Paul Clement’s men.

“We had a really good session this morning,” said Appleton. “We changed the format slightly just so we get a little bit of enjoyment and fun rather than too much concentration and it seemed to work.

“The group is very positive. We’ve had a tough start to the season. We’ve competed really well against four of the top six sides and possibly should have taken a point against at least a couple of them.

“We obviously competed against four other sides outside the top six with the greatest respect. In terms of lifting them, I think today (Thursday) was probably that and I’m expecting that to be the only day I have to do it.

“I fully expect coming in tomorrow a mindset that is focused on what the job is on Saturday.

“My full focus is making sure I pick the right team. Hopefully with a little bit of luck and quality, we can go and win the game.”

After a 1-1 draw with West Bromwich Albion earlier this week, Appleton is expecting a different test but says there will not be drastic changes to how City approach the game.

He added: “It’s a good dressing room and there are some talented lads in there. There’s one or two very, very hungry lads who are desperate to get an opportunity.

“I don’t want to change too much for the players. Obviously, there might be little tweaks here and there, but it’s one of them where you go into a game like Swansea knowing it’s going to be very different to the one we played on Monday night.

“They’re two very different teams with very different styles. Whether it was me in charge as I am on Saturday or it was Craig, I would imagine that things would be slightly different in terms of the approach.”
