After a disappointing first period in which the Eagles scored twice through Christian Benteke and Wilfried Zaha, City responded and went close through Riyad Mahrez and Wilfred Ndidi.

But Ndidi was dismissed just after the hour mark and while the Foxes committed men forward in an attempt to pull one back, Palace hit them on the break and scored a third goal through Bakary Sako.

“It was a disappointing result for Leicester City today, but you’ve got to credit Crystal Palace, especially for their first-half performance,” Taggart told LCFC Radio at the full-time whistle.

“They came out and they had a game plan. They always looked dangerous on the counter attack and when they took that two-goal lead going into half-time, it was always an uphill task for Leicester City to get back into the game.

“Going down to 10 men in the second half added to their woes, but you have to say the second-half performance from Leicester was a big improvement. They can find themselves unlucky not to get on the scoresheet.

“Unfortunately for Leicester, they just couldn’t continue that winning run.”

You can listen to live commentary of City’s Carabao Cup clash with Manchester City on Tuesday evening from 6:45pm on LCFC Radio.
