The Foxes welcome a second Manchester side to Filbert Way in the space of five days as they prepare to take on Jose Mourinho’s men.

The Red Devils currently sit second in the Premier League table and while they will be aiming to close the gap on leaders Man City, Fuchs says his side must get back to winning ways following last weekend’s loss to Crystal Palace.

“It’s the end of our Manchester week,” Fuchs told LCFC TV. “It’s a nice game just before Christmas and I hope we can treat ourselves well. It will be a great Christmas gift for all of us – for the fans too – so we are looking forward to it.

“We’ve played a great game already against a Manchester side this week so we want to continue that way. I’m happy that we’re playing a big side in the Premier League around this time.

Christian Fuchs wraps up for a cold training session at Belvoir Drive.

“We’re trying to bounce back from our defeat against Crystal Palace. We’re playing at home at King Power Stadium and the fans have been amazing, even when we lost they were still positive. We are trying to make them proud and make them happy for Christmas.”

Fuchs played 120 minutes against Manchester City in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night and while the Foxes exited the competition, the Austrian believes his side were unlucky not to progress following a penalty shootout defeat.

He said: “It was a great performance. It just shows that we have some depth in our squad and that whoever is coming in to play, they’ll perform great.

“We were a little bit lucky at the end to get a penalty at that time, but I think the effort that we put into the game paid off. Unfortunately, then with penalties, it’s no one’s favourite thing to do.

We’re full of confidence. We know this game against Palace was not good at all, but I’d rather lose one game like that. You get up and you keep going again.

“Nobody likes to be in that situation because it’s not necessarily that the better team wins. For me as a fan, I would enjoy watching a penalty shootout, definitely.”

The confidence produced from four straight Premier League wins across November and December is very much still flowing, not least from last week’s magnificent 4-1 triumph at Southampton.

“I think the way we performed in those games was very good, especially against Southampton away,” reflected the defender. “With the first half, given the fact that we scored three goals right away, that was really good.

“It was a really enjoyable game, also for the gaffer – I think he enjoyed it a lot too. We’re full of confidence. We know this game against Palace was not good at all, but I’d rather lose one game like that. You get up and you keep going again.”
