Uwe Rosler’s outfit were difficult to break down in the first period, but a neat finish from Iheanacho gave City the lead just before the interval.

A much-improved performance from the Foxes followed in the second period, and with the help of VAR, Iheanacho added a second on 77 minutes.

“We’re happy we got past them today,” Iheanacho told LCFC TV. “It was a very good game and they are a good side so we are happy we got the win tonight.

“Coming back and scoring the two goals, I’m very happy. We worked together as team and we played a very good game tonight.

Iheanacho At The Double

Kelechi Iheanacho reflected on his first Leicester City brace following Tuesday's win over Fleetwood.

“It wasn’t that good in the first half but we stuck together as a team and got the first goal.”

Iheanacho’s delicate effort in the second period was initially ruled out for offside, but after referee Jonathan Moss consulted VAR, the goal was awarded.

Reflecting on the moment he knew his second strike stood, Iheanacho added: “To be fair, I didn’t know whether I was onside or offside. Riyad [Mahrez] told me I was onside. It was a great goal. I didn’t get to celebrate with the fans at first.

“But the goal counts and it’s a good thing because this now happens in football so we love it.

“There was a bit of time wasted there but it was a good thing for everyone to see what happened.”

City next face Peterborough United at the ABAX Stadium in the fourth round and Iheanacho believes his side have a good opportunity to progress in an important competition.

He added: “It’s a great competition, we never know what’s going to happen in the future but we will keep working hard in training and in games.

“If we play 90 minutes, we will give our best and we’ll win games and that’s what it’s all about.”
